Ladbrokes unveil stellar missed-cut offer for PGA Championship

Picking a winner out of 156 entrants for the PGA Championship doesn’t come without obstacles.
Not only do potential golf punters need to rise to the needle-in-a-haystack challenge of finding the man that will prevail over four fierce days of competition, but they also need to traverse the varied form, history and odds of each player.
Even then, when the final selection is made with all confidence, weather conditions or a human error can send a player’s round spiralling out of control, with his tournament chances swirling away with the wind or grounded club in the sand.
Then there is the cut, the deadly chop each golf tournament gets at the half way stage that determines which golfers have played well enough to continue challenging for the trophy, and those that are forbidden to play on.
Except for the 2015 edition of the US PGA Championship, Ladbrokes have taken that particular problem out of contention altogether, with a generous special offer.
Any customers making a bet of no more than £25 on the tournament prior to its start on Thursday will get their money back in the form of a free bet if their selection misses the cut.
That means there is a completely risk-free punt to be made on some of the more unfancied horses in the field, like 2004 Whistling Straits champion, and current 500/1 shot Vijay Singh, or the complete rank outsider in the event, 2,500/1 chance Mark Brooks.
More sensibly though, the offer allows Ladbrokes customers to make more speculative selections for the tournament, safe in the knowledge that they cannot lose their money, even if their choice fails to make the weekend.
It makes the 100/1 prices about household names like Jimmy Walker and Keegan Bradley look all the more appealing, while the chances of 200/1-rated Hunter Mahan and 300/1 outsider Miguel Angel Jimenez could also gain support under the terms of the offer.
