Kamara: Rooney criticism utter rubbish, people just need patience

The criticism I have seen written about Wayne Rooney this week has been complete rubbish.

Yes, he may not have found the back of the net this term, but people need to remember, we are two weeks into a new season.

It’s a long, hard campaign. If at the end of the season he’s still stuck on no goals half-way through the campaign, then of course he will come in for some stick, but strikers go through droughts, we know that.

There’s no doubting that someone like Wayne Rooney will only get better as he gets older.

He may not get quicker, but he’ll certainly get better as a finisher because of his experience. But the stick he’s getting is totally unfair as far as I am concerned.

United have also been ridiculed for missing out on targets, like Pedro and Nicolas Otamendi, but I think there could be more to it than just being pipped to the post.

They have spent so much money already that you think; how badly did they want these players?

Was it really a case of targeting these players and getting beaten to it by other clubs?

We can’t forget Manchester United have had the best start they’ve had for three seasons, with another terrific win in Europe against Club Brugge in midweek. And when Rooney starts firing on all cylinders they can push on even more.

Stones won’t go to Chelsea to sit on the bench

The John Stones story is something that has been rumbling on for a while now.

Will Everton sell? Won’t they sell? Should they sell?

It could be that Chelsea are going to go all out to get him, and rebuild the defence before it’s too late.

If Roberto Martinez can get a decent replacement for half the price then obviously it might happen.

It’s one of those situations for John Stones, when Chelsea, the current champions come knocking on the door, do you go?

I’ve read all sorts of reports that say he shouldn’t go as he’ll only be a bit-part player. How do they know that? If you are playing mega dough for someone, in this case around £40m, then you’re not going to leave them on the bench.

So if that transfer does finally happen, of course he will play.

It won’t necessarily mean the end for John Terry at Chelsea but you can certainly see it reducing him to a bit-part player.

His half-time substitution against Manchester City at the weekend is interesting considering he was such a talisman for them last season and didn’t even miss a game.There was no hint of injury whatsoever either.

They took Petr Cech out of the team last season and made him second choice, and it’s interesting now as to whether Jose Mourinho will bring in one of his younger players and make John second choice, or even push on with chasing John Stones.

We’ll only know more when the team sheets are released on Saturday as to whether John Terry is on borrowed time as a Chelsea regular or Mourinho simply thought he wasn’t playing to the best of his ability on Sunday.

Only a matter of time before Austin moves on

Another transfer saga that continues to develop is that of Charlie Austin.

I’m surprised he has not moved already, with there being are plenty of teams reportedly interested from Bournemouth to Newcastle to West Ham.

Charlie can score in the Premier League that’s one thing for certain. He scored 18 for a struggling team that ended up getting relegated, so there’s no doubting whatsoever his credentials and his ability.

He doesn’t seem to be unsettled at QPR, so he’s not banging on the door saying he wants to leave, and just continues to score goals.

However, with a place in the Premier League potentially at his disposal, I think before the end of the transfer window we will see him go to someone.

But with a number teams around that are crying out for more goals, who that will be remains to be seen.
