Industry-best odds about Arsenal and Liverpool’s sharp shooters

Published:

Ladbrokes’ new Sharp Shooter offer means first goalscorer odds doubled for any player that nets first and within the first 25 minutes of a Premier League game in front of the watching TV cameras*, with Liverpool’s trip to Arsenal next up on Sky Sports 1.

Punters who backed Reds striker Christian Benteke in the 1-0 win at home to Bournemouth only just missed out on multiplied money, as the Belgian opened his Anfield account with a contentious strike in the 26th minute.

He’s the shortest-priced visiting player to bag the opener at 13/2, but the smart bet must be Emirates hero Olivier Giroud at 9/2, after the French forward fired first a quarter of an hour into his side’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace last time out.

Alongside this double-odds offer, Ladbrokes are now top price about Benteke scoring in a Liverpool win at 8/1 (from 6/1) and Alexis Sanchez troubling the scoreboard operators in a home triumph at 11/4 (from 2/1).

The big number nine has previous in this part of north London, having managed a couple of goals away to Arsenal on the opening day of the 2013/14 Premier League campaign, when helping old club Aston Villa to a 3-1 victory.

After finding the net in his new side’s triumph over the Cherries, the £32.5m man ranks as a sound wager to do so again at 8/1, but Chilean hotshot Alexis looks even better for the FA Cup winners.

The 26-year-old made a huge difference to Arsenal’s form on his return to the starting line-up against Palace, having come back late from his country’s successful Copa America tilt earlier this summer.

He can take a while to get going, but Alexis struck 14 times in 18 Arsenal matches between late August and early September last season. Backing him to open his account in a victory for the hosts looks value at 11/4.
