Fantasy Football: No change up top as the Ladbrokes Life gang labour

Published:

It’s all getting a bit predictable in the Ladbrokes Life Fantasy Football league with the leaders unchanged for the third straight week.

However while Robert Kelly’s ‘Can’t Stop Scoring’ have maintained their position at the summit of the league, the chasing pack is beginning to close in on them.

With a £100 free bet at stake, managing your transfers and substitutions will be key and while the team at the top had a respectable week, the decision to switch goalies from Simon Mignolet to Lukasz Fabianski cost them precious points.

Chasing hard in second is A Bashir’s ‘Silva Surfers’ just three points back, but the big movers this week was Tobias Kroos’ ‘Bayern Munchen’.

No side in the league got to within 10 points of their 86 point haul. That however may have been something to do with the fact that the fantasy gaffer played his ‘Bench Boost’ this week.

It was an inspired move with Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann adding 14 points to the cause with a goal and an assist.

Dann, as well as Aleksandar Kolarov were both present in Kroos’ team, and this week’s Dream Team, an XI that could have raked in a whopping 130 points.

The best you could get featured a third straight appearance for Riyad Mahrez of Leicester, as well as a spot for Pedro on his Premier League debut.

As for the Ladbrokes Life gang, it was another week of taking the bragging rights for Generous John, who continues to lead his chums a merry dance.

His decision to bring in Cesar Azpilicueta for the suspended Daryl Janmaat was an inspired one with the Spaniard netting in Chelsea’s 3-2 victory over West Brom on Sunday.

While it was a steady week compared to his comrades John did drop to 19th overall in the league.

Elsewhere there was some inspired mores by the Believer who brought in Nacer Chadli for the aforementioned Janmaat. An assist and a bonus point were enough to add six points to his tally while the decision to hand Bafetimbi Gomis was an inspired one.

Spare a thought for the Professor though. Our very own bearded genius has been let down by the stats so far this season, and is facing a real relegation battle down in 628th place.

While the promised goals in the Arsenal versus Liverpool game didn’t materialise it was the sending off of John Terry that did damage to his tally, bringing in just 22 points for the week.

But with 35 games left to play, there is plenty of time for all the competitors to climb up the table and stake their claim for that bumper free bet.
