Everton to remind Man City they won’t have it all their own way

Everton host Manchester City to sign off the weekend’s Premier League action and although the Citizens have looked back to their destructive best early on, the Toffees also enter the clash brimming with confidence.

Having seen off defending champions Chelsea and West Brom in such compelling fashion, with successive 3-0 wins, City’s price to wrestle back the title has plummeted.

Then again, if any side was capable of delivering Manuel Pellegrini’s side a reality check right now, even in their early form, it’s quite arguably Everton.

In light of City’s start there is perhaps good reason they will begin the Goodison Park collision as 8/11 favourites for the spoils, but given Roberto Martinez’s side are unbeaten themselves and more importantly just turned Southampton over 3-0 at St Mary’s – 4/1 on the hosts is big.

The two in-form sides drew 1-1 back in January on Merseyside and 3/1 says they’ll cancel each other out again, while recent history shows City have only prevailed once at Goodison (3-2 en route to the 2013/14 title) in six visits, losing four consecutively before that.

Perhaps the attacking intent shown by both teams is the best avenue for profit with Everton and City firing five and six goals respectively in their first two league games, albeit the Sky Blues are yet to concede.

However, given the forward chemistry shown on the south coast by Martinez’s men, especially on the counter which is likely to be a theme here, it adds real attraction to a bet on both sides finding the net, at 8/13.

The former Chelsea man is a 7/1 chance to break the deadlock.

Meanwhile, those who believe the Citizens will still prove too strong come the final whistle will be interested to know Ladbrokes are running a price boost on Man City to win and both teams scoring.

This outcome will be enhanced from 2/1 to 5/2 from 8.00 am on the day of the game.
