Williams sisters focus of Wimbledon’s second Monday multi

Published:

After a day’s break, Wimbledon returns to action with a veritable feast of tennis action to start the second week.

Every player remaining in the singles’ draw will take to the court on Monday, leaving the tipsters at news.ladbrokes with a wide range of matches to tuck into.

Here’s what they have come up with for a treble paying around 24/1:

Marin Cilic v Denis Kudla to go five sets @ 4/1

It’s a bit of a punchy start to the accumulator, but Cilic v Kudla looks ripe to go the distance judging by the pair’s previous matches in SW19.

Cilic was involved in an epic five-setter against Wimbledon marathon-man John Isner in the last round, winning the decider 12-10 after three of the previous four sets went to tiebreaks. He also needed the full compliment against Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis in round three.

Similarly, Kudla has been ensuring full value for his court time during the tournament. The American preceded the five-setter he won against Santiago Giraldo last time out with another in the opening round.

Serena Williams v Venus Williams to have a tiebreak @ 12/5

Tennis’ most famous sisters harp back to old days, meeting at Wimbledon for the sixth time but first before the semi-finals and since 2009.

Although the pair have shown their usual dominance in the first week, their tussles against each other aren’t usually as straight forward.

In 25 career battles between the two, there have been 12 tiebreaks. Six of them have come in the last nine matchups.

Agnieszka Radwanska to beat Jelena Jankovic @ 4/9

A duo that have been inside the top two in the world rankings at different points during their careers, but only have one Wimbledon final appearance between them from a combined 20 previous appearances.

It’s Radwanska that is taken to progress from this one, thanks to a 5-2 advantage in the head-to-head battle and a far superior grass-court record. Jankovic’s best effort at this tournament in 11 consecutive years here is a fourth-round berth.
