Love Your Club: Abdul Osman – Partick Thistle

Published:

Abdul Osman, Partick’s 6ft midfield powerhouse, has a long association with Scottish football, playing for Gretna in 2007-08 and courting interest from Kilmarnock before making his name at English side Northampton Town.

The 28-year-old is now settled in Maryhill and enjoying life as part of the Jags set-up.

Here he tells us why he loves Partick Thistle…

Why do you love Partick Thistle?

I’ve been here a year now and I like the city, I like the club and I like the manager. The boys have been really good to me and the whole feel about the club is great.

Describe the fans and what they mean to the club

With fans if you do well they’ll always support you and personally they’ve been very good to me since I arrived. With social media it makes it easier for them to get in touch and they do quite often. Thankfully it’s mostly been positive stuff so far.

What’s the vibe like in the dressing room?

Day to day it’s good. The boys are obviously concentrating and listening to the manager. There is a lot of banter at this club. We’re quite a chilled dressing room really, we all listen to music and try to relax before a game.

Can you name a Partick Thistle Backroom Hero?

The kit man Macca. He does a lot of things that go unnoticed. Him and Ricky, they do really well behind closed doors but no one gets to really see their hard work.

What’s the best thing about being a Partick Thistle footballer?

Playing in front of big crowds and the adrenaline rush from playing in big games and showing what you’ve got to give on the pitch.
