Two longshots to halt Rose’s third Quicken Loans National bid

For the ninth edition of the Quicken Loans National, the tournament will be held at its third different golf course, but that shouldn’t bother the market leader and defending champion.
Justin Rose is the only man to win the event on both of the previous host courses and arrives at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in supreme form.
A slight slump, where the Englishman finished 27th and 74th in two appearances following his Memorial Tournament silver medal, was quickly ended at the Open Championship last time out.
Rose’s tie for sixth at St Andrews goes a long way towards Ladbrokes making him the 8/1 outright favourite for the Quicken Loans National, with Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker joining him as the only men priced lower than 20/1.
It may be difficult for some to ignore three household names in the betting, but there remains two other options to choose at far better prices.
Danny Lee is a 40/1 shot with Ladbrokes and has had something of a world rankings spike following a purple patch of form.
The New Zealander has seen his official rank jump from 158th four outings ago to 69th after The Open, despite missing the cut in Scotland.
That surge is down to the Greenbrier Classic win he secured and a follow up T3 at the John Deere Classic a week later.
A seventh place in this tournament in 2009 also indicates a potential to outperform his price, while the chances of 50/1 shot Will Wilcox also catch the eye.
Although he is coming back from resting a sore wrist, the 29-year-old couldn’t be returning in better touch.
Wilcox claimed a solo second in his last appearance on the PGA Tour, following up his tie for eighth at the John Deere.
He has never played the Quicken Loans before, but should have the required game to succeed. He leads the Tour in the all-around statistic.
