Liverpool and Spurs help form transfer triangle around Juve star

Liverpool and Tottenham have crossed paths on the search for a new striker more than once this summer and the two clubs find themselves chasing the same player yet again.
Christian Benteke and Danny Ings were both targets of the Premier League pair during the latest transfer window. While the Reds won the battle for the latter, neither club seem prepared to offer Aston Villa’s £32m asking price for the former, leaving the duo to seek alternatives.
Unsurprisingly, their interlinked imaginations have landed them at the same conclusion: Juventus’ Fernando Llorente.
Sky Sports believe the duo, along with Real Madrid, are keeping tabs on the Spanish striker, who failed to set Serie A on fire with his goal scoring last season.
Llorente struggled to fully showcase his talents in front of the onion bag in Turin, scoring just seven league goals in 31 appearances. That barren run, though, was an anomaly in what has been a consistent prior career.
The Pamplona native had reached double-figure league tallies in six of his previous seven campaigns before last season, with his excellent record at Athletic Bilbao both earning him his Juventus move and a Spanish call up.
However, with the Italian giants freshening up their attack by signing Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic and Simone Zaza, it is just a matter of time before Llorente follows Carlos Tevez out of the exit door.
Both Liverpool and Spurs seek a reliable backup striker to help their top-four challenges, rated at 15/8 and 13/2 respectively by Ladbrokes.
Daniel Sturridge and Harry Kane will remain the main men for either side, but will need better support than what the likes of Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli, Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor provided.
