LISTEN: Strauss expects Aussie backlash, Vaughan on Haddin

Published:

England cricket fans have busy been basking in the glory of their team’s thumping 169-run win over Australia in the Ashes curtain-raiser but a tougher examination could lie ahead.

That’s according to England Director of Cricket and former captain Andrew Strauss who is expecting a backlash from the Baggy Greens when the two sides resume hostilities at Lord’s in the second Test.

Speaking to Sky Sports Cricket, Strauss warned his former teammates to be ‘wary of the wounded animal’ following their crushing defeat in Cardiff.

Meanwhile, Aussie legends Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath have been quick to back Shane Watson following reports that the all-rounder might not feature in London.

Brett Lee has also come out in support of Watson. The Aussie fast bowler thinks that his compatriots can triumph no matter who’s selected.

And there was sympathy from Michael Vaughan for wicket-keeper Brad Haddin who will be missing the second Test for personal reasons.
