LISTEN: Crowd soak up the action at Newmarket’s July Meeting

Published:

A packed crowd assembled for the start of this year’s July Meeting at Newmarket and Ladies Day didn’t disappoint with plenty of high-quality racing and a fair few big-priced winners too.

Once again we’ve teamed up with our friends over at audioBoom to present you with this cracking selection of snippets and bring this summer spectacular to life.

Here are some of the highlights from yesterday…

Ahead of the first race a blues band entertained racegoers and there was also the chance to have a look around a stall that’s become a mainstay at HQ.

On to the racing itself and it didn’t take long for Frankie Dettori to get off the mark, duly obliging in the first aboard the talented favourite and Ladbrokes St Leger fancy, Mr. Singh.

Trainer John Gosden secured a quick-fire double when his charge Shalaa bolted up to take the July Stakes in the next.

Resonant then got the crowd going with an eye-catching victory in the hands of William Buick.

Check back soon for more sounds from the crowd at the UK’s biggest horse racing events. And take a look at our preview of the action on day two of the July Meeting
