Kilmarnock v Dundee: Dees top value to seal Rugby Park hat-trick

Dundee’s recent couple of trips to Rugby Park have been excellent days out for the Dees supporters.

Two victories in their most recent pair of excursions to East Ayrshire as well as a win in their last meeting on their own turf sees their record against Kilmarnock look pretty smart.

If they are to secure another top-six finish under Paul Hartley, a good start will undoubtedly be of huge importance.

Being priced up at 17/10 to begin the season with three points will please the Dens Park residents and value-seeking punters alike.

But while they look a big price to defeat a Killie side that won just three of the last 13 matches at home in the season just gone, there is a bet that looks even more tempting.

Kilmarnock have plenty of ammunition to hurt teams up front with Tope Obadeyi and Josh Magennis both netting eight-plus goals last season.

Throw in Kris Boyd, who is out to make amends after a disappointing season at Rangers after bagging 22 times at his current club in 2013-14, and the hosts can certainly get on the scoresheet.

So with the visitors coming into this season after a successful campaign, and Gary Locke’s men capable of making their scoreboard work, the Dundee win with both teams finding the net at 17/4 looks huge.

But if you are looking for a man to open the scoring, it is best focusing on a player wearing the dark blue of Dundee.

Greg Stewart netted three times in his three appearances against Kilmarnock last season and with eight of his 13 Scottish Premiership strikes in 2014-15 coming first, backing him to break the deadlock at 13/2 is a solid option.

The shape of the season for both these sides could be set at Rugby Park on Saturday, and while there won’t be much in it, the visitors look all the value.
