Hungarian GP best bets include a first Red Bull podium of 2015

Lewis Hamilton decimated the field in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, beating teammate Nico Rosberg into pole by a full 0.5 seconds, to leave the Brit looking unstoppable in Budapest.

Hamilton topped every time sheet from the first practice on Friday through to an outstanding lap in Q3 around the Hungaroring on Saturday.

All this means the championship leader will set off as the nailed on 2/7 favourite for the race.

Daniel Ricciardo to finish on the podium @ 5/2

There is far less certainty about this bet, though a bleak season for Red Bull and Ricciardo so far could seem a lot brighter heading into the summer recess.

Upgrades to their car appear to have paid dividends for the Renault-powered team at a track which provided one of Ricciardo’s three race wins during his debut Red Bull season last year.

The Australian has finished no higher than fifth in 2015, but he now sits fourth on the grid alongside Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari in Hungary, with teammate Daniel Kvyat seventh, showing Red Bull are very much in the mix for a podium at long last.

Fernando Alonso not to be classified @ 1/1

You have to feel for poor old Alonso. The double world champion’s move back to McLaren has been somewhat farcical ever since his unexplained crash in pre-season testing.

At least Silverstone offered some respite for Alonso who halted a sequence of four straight retirements by scarping into the final points position, but having been forced to abandon Q2 thanks to an electrical fault, there could be further trouble in store here.
