New Harry Kane? 5 potential Premier League breakout stars

Published:

Harry Kane came from practically nowhere last season to become the talk of English football, bagging 30+ goals for Tottenham and forcing his way into the England set-up.

The Spurs striker is now being linked with a big-money move to Manchester United but who will fill his shoes as the breakout star of the forthcoming campaign?

These things are notoriously difficult to predict but Ladbrokes News had singled out five youngsters who could be set to take the top flight by storm.

Andreas Pereira – Manchester United

There’s been a buzz surrounding the Belgium-born Brazilian for some time at Old Trafford and his wondergoal in the U20 World Cup against Serbia only served to heighten those expectations.

Louis van Gaal is renowned for giving youth a chance and with United adding only Memphis Depay to the midfield ranks thus far this fellow former PSV man could shine for the Red Devils this year.

Izzy Brown – Chelsea

The youth talk at Chelsea has been dominated by the likes of Patrick Bamford and Ruben Loftus-Cheek of late but former West Brom man Brown also boasts top class youth pedigree. With two FA Youth Cups and an Under-17 title to his name already the 18-year-old winger has a taste for glory.

With the Blues’ embarrassment of riches the ex-Baggie has the odds stacked against him but if he’s given a chance it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him seize it.

Rolando Aarons – Newcastle United

This pacy 19-year-old winger has already showed bags of enthusiasm in the short amount of game time afforded to him at St James’ Park and the Jamaica-born England U20 man will be expecting to be rewarded in the coming season.

Aarons impressed during pre-season last year, netting a goal and setting up another against Schalke and a similar showing over the coming weeks could see him firmly into new boss Steve McClaren’s plans.

Callum Wilson – AFC Bournemouth

When Bournemouth used the entire £3m fee they received from Norwich for Lewis Grabban on Coventry’s Wilson more than a few eyebrows were raised.

The 23-year-old repaid that faith, however, netting 23 goals in all competitions and the Cherries were crowned Championship winners. Already linked with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, another strong campaign could see a big club move and England recognition materialise.

Dele Alli – Tottenham Hotspur

A £5m signing from MK Dons earlier this year, big things are expected of Alli, who collected the Young Player of the Year gong at the Football League Awards in April.

The 19-year-old netted 16 goals from 36 games in midfield for the Dons last year and if he can take the move to the top flight in his stride could be Spurs’ second breakout star in as many seasons.
