Falcao’s struggles to continue at Stamford Bridge

Manchester United are unlikely to rue the decision to send Radamel Falcao packing, even if the Colombian striker ends up at Chelsea as expected.

The Monaco man is reportedly on the brink of joining the Blues on loan but Ladbrokes feels the former Atletico Madrid ace will continue to struggle with the demands of the Premier League.

The Old Trafford flop managed just four goals from 29 games for the Red Devils and while it would take some serious doing to go under that total the bookmaker has the 29-year-old odds-on at 4/6 to fail to reach double figures in 2015-16.

Anyone expecting the South American to click into gear can get 11/10 about him scoring 10 or more but Diego Costa is unlikely to be concerned about competition, with Falcao priced as a distant 25/1 shot to win the Golden Boot.

Ben Stones of Ladbrokes said “While it is expected that Falcao will better his four goals from last season, the odds suggest he will struggle to set the world alight at Stamford Bridge”.

However, while United are unlikely to see their former temp have a huge say in the outcome of the title race, they could see Falcao come back to haunt them during the season.

A Premier League strike against his former employers is priced at 7/4 and with a point to prove to United many will be tempted to back Falcao to do just that.

The forward will have to show a marked improvement on his United performances to convince Chelsea he is worthy of a permanent deal and at 3/1 to sign on such terms there is clearly some doubt about his ability to pull it off.
