Take advantage of Copa America promo with former QPR hotshot

Published:

After three weeks of fierce competition on the other side of the world, the 2015 Copa America reaches its climax when hosts Chile take on Argentina in Santiago, and Ladbrokes have broken out the big guns ahead of the big day.

From 8am Saturday, the bookies won’t be beaten on price by William Hill, Coral, Bet365, Paddy Power, SkyBet, Boylesports, BetVictor or Betfred for all first-scorer and correct-score bets at Estadio Nacional, where the 5/2 hosts have played all of their matches so far.

Only one player in either squad has managed to break the deadlock more than once so far in Chile and that’s Albiceleste hitman Sergio Aguero, currently an industry-best 5/1 with Ladbrokes, but La Roja’s Eduardo Vargas leads the tournament scoring stakes with four goals.

Furthermore, Jorge Sampaoli’s side have bagged three more Copa America strikes than their final opponents, despite Gerardo Martino’s men thumping Paraguay 6-1 last time out.

With this in mind, former QPR loanee Vargas, who bagged both his country’s goals in their 2-1 semi-final victory over Peru including the opener, looks the part at 7/1 to make it two first goals in a row in his hometown.

For a correct score, it’s tough to look beyond Lionel Messi and co emerging victorious in the 90, as Argentina’s record against Chile is second to none.

Only once in the 85-year history of this fixture, stretching back to the first World Cup in 1930, have Chile managed to score a victory over Argentina, and while that triumph came fairly recently (2008), normal service has resumed in two matches since.

The 14-time Copa America champions beat Chile 4-1 back in 2011, and saw them off 2-1 in Argentine-born Sampaoli’s only other encounter with his country.

A repeat of the first scoreline, currently priced at 40/1, is unforeseeable, but 2-1 certainly is not at 8/1.
