West Ham table €8m bid for Argentine international winger

Slaven Bilic’s recruitment team continue to work hard in the close season with an €8m bid tendered for Genoa’s Argentina international Diego Perotti.

According to Il Secolo XIX, the player’s club have turned down the offer, but are open to negotiations if their valuation is met.

The winger has been subject of numerous reports that he is set to leave the Liguria club, and it looks as if the Premier League could be his likely destination.

The 26-year-old only arrived at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris last summer but put in a solid season in which he netted four times in 27 matches, as he helped his side to sixth place in Serie A.

Having earned two caps for La Abliceleste the former Sevilla man has found his international career floundering, and will be hoping a move to England can be the catalyst for a return to the fold for the first time in four years.

Pacy and an excellent dribbler, he would provide much needed flair to the Hammers’ midfield, and could find himself thriving in the Premier League.

A move for Perotti wouldn’t be the first time the Hammers have recruited from the city of Genoa this season, having already signed Pedro Obiang from cross-town rivals Sampdoria last month.

The capital club also look to be stepping up their interest in QPR’s Charlie Austin, as reported on Monday.

Having been subject to a monster gamble, the 18-goal striker has seen his odds of joining West Ham cut from 18/1 last Saturday into 3/1.

The Hammers will have a busy schedule this season with Europa League qualifying set to kick off in three weeks, so additions will be necessary.

If bringing in the right personnel, Bilic could be good value to lead his new side to some silverware this season at a tempting price of 12/1.
