Vote4Value: Choose which Prince of Wales’s horse you want boosted

Published:

Royal Ascot’s Prince of Wales’s Stakes is set to hold worldwide appeal this year, with entries coming from far and wide to contest the 1m 2f Group 1 race.

America, Australia and Japan will all be represented in Berkshire for the prestigious flat-racing meeting’s second day, while British hopes rest with the likes of The Grey Gatsby.

With so much choice on offer and the ante-post market shaping up tighter than a ballerina’s leotard, it may be that a price boost will help many make a final decision on who to back.

And unlike others we’re putting the power in your hands!

Vote in our poll below and for a limited time only on Monday June 15 2015 we’ll be boosting the price of the public’s chosen horse.

If you’d like to see a horse boosted that’s not on this list then leave the name of your fancy in the comments section below.

California Chrome: The booking of last year’s winning jockey, William Buick, is a considerable bonus for last year’s Kentucky Derby winner, who has finished with a silver medal in each of his last two starts.

Criterion: David Hayes’ four-year-old is the outsider in this list of Vote4Value options at 12/1 but pleased his trainer with the workout he produced at Ascot two weeks prior to the meeting. Should it rain, Hayes believes his horse stands a chance.

Ectot: Although finishing 17th of 20 in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe last time out, Ectot is among a group of three horses sat just behind the favourite at 8/1 in the ante-post betting. Prior to that disappointment last year, the Al Shaqab owned Colt strung six consecutive wins together.

Free Eagle: Despite racing just four times, Dermot Weld’s horse is the ante-post favourite for the Prince of Wales stakes and finished third in the Qipco Champion Stakes last time out.

The Grey Gatsby: A two-time Group 1 winner, this Irish-bred four-year-old was fourth in the Tattersalls Gold Cup last time out but only reached peak form in his third outing last season. The Prince of Wales will be his third race this term.

Western Hymn: John Gosden took this race with The Fugue last year and enters Western Hymn this time around as an 8/1 shot. A two-win streak ahead of the Royal Ascot outing earns respect too.
