Tottenham make decorated PSG star their next great wing hope

Being a Tottenham Hotspur winger is a dangerous occupation to hold as the summer transfer window approaches.

Still striving to find an adequate replacement for Gareth Bale some two seasons after the Welshman became the most expensive player in the world, Spurs look set to shuffle their whitewash huggers this offseason.

Aaron Lennon spent the second half of the season on loan at Everton, while Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela have never really looked like fixtures in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

That has left the Argentine with just Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen as his regular wingers at White Hart Lane, with a dip into the transfer market to find some cavalry a necessary outcome from such a shortage.

Ideally, the former Southampton tactician would use Eriksen more centrally should he have better options out wide, while Chadli’s 10 goals and five assists in the Premier League campaign should ensure he is first choice in that department next term.

According to chief rumourists the Metro, the north Londoners are giving the Belgian some much needed support, with a deal for Paris Saint-Germain outcast Ezequiel Lavezzi close being completed.

The Lilywhites are reportedly thrashing out a £10m deal for the Argentine wide-man, who scored eight goals to help the French giants claim a third successive Ligue 1 title.

Spurs representatives have already discussed personal terms with the former Napoli star, leaving the formalities of a transfer fee and a medical to complete before the 30-year-old can be unveiled in Tottenham white.

Should that happen, the White Hart Lane club’s odds to finish in the top four next season, currently sat at 5/1 are sure to feel a pinch.
