Rodgers, Pellegrini and Pearson all fancied for the chop

Premier League managers are barely into their summer holidays but their credentials are already being called into question by some punters.

Ladbrokes customers have been requesting odds for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini and Leicester gaffer Nigel Pearson all to be sacked at some point during the 2015-16 campaign.

And as the bookmaker that prices up whatever you like (within reason) the traders have offered tempting odds of 29/1 that the trio are given their marching orders after the first game of the season and before the final day.

Reds boss Rodgers is favourite of the three to go first, with a tough run of away fixtures at the start of the season seeing the Northern Irishman’s odds cut to just 2/1.

Pearson is next in the betting at evens and although he steered the Foxes to a great escape last season his bizarre behaviour – Ostrich rant anyone? – means a few slip-ups early on in the new campaign and he could be heading for the King Power exit door.

Pellegrini is expected to be given more of a chance at the Etihad, where his odds of being dropped during the season are 4/1.

The Citizens’ meek defence of their Premier League title led many to believe the Chilean would be given the axe during the summer.

However, he has held on thus far and looks likely to pick up the mantle at the start of the new term.

Meanwhile, north of the border, some optimistic Rangers fans are looking forward to the Mark Warburton era with high hopes.

One customer requested odds for the Gers to win the Ladbrokes Championship this season, follow that up with a Ladbrokes Premiership win in 2016-17 and then go one better and return to the Champions League group stages in the 2017-18 era.

The Ladbrokes traders duly obliged once again, with odds of 75/1, and with the Ibrox outfit odds-on for the title this season the first leg of that fantastic trio appears a formality – even if the rest requires some imagination.
