Poll: Which of Man United’s targets should be the priority?

Given that Manchester United are linked with the world’s top talents on a daily basis so many transfer rumours are taken with a large pinch of salt.

That said, today’s papers seem convinced Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal is set go on a £150m shopping spree to sign four of Europe’s top talents this summer.

But which of today’s rumoured targets should the Dutchman make his priority?

Jasper Cillessen

The Ajax goalkeeper, 26 has claimed three Eredivisie titles with the Amsterdam club and established himself as Holland’s first choice stopper under Van Gaal at the World Cup in Brazil.

By his own admission Ajax will make it difficult for him to leave after signing a new contract tying him to the club until 2018 but with a hefty transfer warchest Van Gaal could just force the hand of countryman and Ajax manager Frank De Boer.

Sergio Ramos

The Real Madrid star is reportedly agitating for a move away from the Bernabeu but has had his motives questioned by the likes of Rio Ferdinand, who claim his stance could be a way of earning a new deal with the La Liga giants.

With three Spanish titles and a Champions League win to go alongside a World Cup and two European Championships the 29-year-old would be a welcome addition to the United ranks but with a reported €200m buy-out clause some serious negotiations will need to take place.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

Like Ramos the German star has been accused of using United’s interest to gain an improved deal at Bayern and like his Spanish counterpart the 30-year-old’s bulging trophy cabinet, which includes eight Bundesliga titles, seven DFB Pokal cups and a World Cup, means he would walk into the Red Devils line up.

As a one club man it seems unlikely that Schweinsteiger is genuinely looking to leave the Allianz Arena but if United can act on any slight hope of landing the German their 11/2 title odds could tumble.

Karim Benzema

Benzema has been linked with United since his days at Lyon, where he lifted the Ligue 1 trophy on four occasions.

He has been overshadowed throughout his Real Madrid career, most recently by the goal machine that is Cristiano Ronaldo, but his own goal stats remain hugely impressive and at 27 the Frenchman still has perhaps his best years in front of him.
