Peru v Bolivia: Expect goals as La Verde and La Blanquirroja clash

Published:

Bolivia can count themselves as fortunate to have made it this far in the competition after losing 5-0 to Chile last time out to qualify with the worst goal difference of any team in the group stage.

La Verde have arguably been given a favourable draw in facing Peru but the betting still suggests Mauricio Soria’s side have gone as far as they can, with Peru the 10/11 favourites to win the game.

Peru will need to get over something of a psychological block to win, having taken just one of the last seven meetings between the two sides, but having earned a credible draw with Colombia La Blanquirroja will be the side with the most confidence.

Bolivia can be backed at 7/2 and the draw after 90 minutes is priced up at 11/5 but one thing that can be relied upon is another glut of goals.

Peru have hardly been an potent attacking threat in the competition so far, scoring just two goals and those coming courtesy of a defensive error against Brazil and then against Venezuela when they had an extra man for an hour.

However, if ever there was a chance for Andre Carillo, Claudio Pizarro and Paolo Guerreo to come alive – this is it.

Recommended Bet: Over 2.5 goals @ 3/2

With this in mind the 11/2 on Pizarro scoring first, the 21/10 on an anytime goal from Guerrero or the 9/2 on a goal at any stage from Carillo should certainly tempt but for a selection approaching banker territory it has to be the above recommended bet.
