US Open 3-balls: Molinari leads outsiders primed to upset odds

The second golf major in the calendar begins on Thursday and while the forecasting gathers pace on who might bring home the bacon at Chambers Bay, there are more immediate paths to profit lurking in the 3-ball betting for day one.
Having combed over the various trios due to tee it up in Washington State, three supposed outsiders have caught our attention.
Placed in a treble, the three players winning their respective 3-balls pays out at a very handy 41/1, or alternatively each bet can be backed individually at decent odds for the more risk-averse punter.
Francesco Molinari to beat Brandt Snedeker and Henrik Stenson @ 5/2
Molinari may be in fairly exulted company, but he arrives having tied for third on his last start at Memorial, where a score of 13-under-par commands respect.
Crucially Molinari leads the PGA Tour in fairways hit and ranks fifth in Greens in Regulation.
Angel Cabrera to beat Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson @ 3/1
The Masters champions have each other for company in the 3-ball, but only one man has landed this trophy; the man they call ‘The Duck’.
Cabrera’s links game is not to be messed with either, where he’s recorded successive top 20s at The Open Championship in similar conditions, meaning he screams value to shoot lowest despite being up against one of the tournament favourites in Mickelson.
George Coetzee to beat Kevin Kisner and Alex Noren @ 2/1
The South African is only the most marginal of outsiders here and for this reason alone greatly appeals.
Already a two-time European Tour winner this season, Coetzee’s form may have dropped off slightly on his last two starts, but two top 20s in his last four Open Championship appearance also indicates his game will go well at Chambers Bay.
