Manchester City about to get serious with huge spend on cards

The full force of Manchester City’s financial clout may be about to be unleashed with various media reports indicating the club are preparing a monster bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
The Sun newspaper suggests that the City’s wealthy owners will gift Manuel Pellegrini a £150m transfer fund, which could yet signal the arrival of Pogba and possibly Raheem Sterling this summer.
It’s believed the Premier League club are willing to smash the British transfer record, currently set at £59.7m from last summer’s purchase of Angel Di Maria by Manchester United, in attempts to blow other Pogba suitors such as Barcelona and Paris St-German out the water.
Since leaving Old Trafford as a teenager Pogba has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting central midfielders in world football, helping Juventus secure the double this season, his third Italian title in succession.
The French international played an integral part in the Serie A giant’s run to the Champions League final as well, which has thrust the 22-year-old into the limelight.
Meanwhile, although City’s owners are accepting they will have their work cut out to land Liverpool’s wantaway forward, Raheem Sterling, they are prepared to be patient.
A speculative bid of around £30 has reportedly been flatly rejected by the Reds who are in a fairly strong position as Sterling’s contract still has two years to run.
However, every player has their price, and with money in plentiful supply at the Etihad it could well be that the deposed Premier League champions come back with a more tempting offer.
It’s well known that Pellegrini must deck his squad out with more home-grown talent to satisfy new Premier League regulations and the situation has been compounded by James Milner leaving on a free, ironically heading to Anfield.
