Amidst all of the transfer talk surrounding Manchester United’s supposed top targets, one man has emerged as THE player Red Devils fans would most like to see at Old Trafford.
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has topped the latest Ladbrokes News poll with 36 per cent of voters making him their preferred choice to head to the Premier League giants.
And while it’s easy to see the attraction of a move for a World Cup and Champions League winner a reported €200m buy-out clause may make it tricky to put a deal in place.
Another European star with plenty of pedigree came second in our poll with Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger amassing 30 per cent of the vote.
Like Ramos, his motives for hankering for a move have been questioned by some, including United legend, Rio Ferdinand.
Perhaps a more viable acquisition would be Karim Benzema. With Van Gaal’s side occasionally looking toothless in attack last term the signing of the 27-year-old Frenchman from Madrid would provide some much-needed extra firepower.
Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed than United will soon be in need of finding a replacement for the departing David de Gea.
But it appears that there’s not a lot of love out there for Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillesen.
