Yet more laurels for Moore foreseen in Royal Ascot best bets

Published:

Ryan Moore has been laying waste to his weighing-room rivals across the first four days of Royal Ascot, booting in eight winners, and he’s expected to reach double figures before the end of events, with two of his Saturday allies featuring among our best bets.

For a more detailed discussion of the final day of the meeting why not tune in to the news.ladbrokes.com podcast.

Postponed – Hardwicke Stakes (15:40)

Last year’s winner Telescope will be a prohibitively-priced favourite despite having yet to show that he is in the same form as when running away with the 2014 renewal.

As such it may be worth taking him on with Luca Cumani’s runner, who proved himself a top-level competitor when a half-length third to Al Kazeem in the Grade 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh last time out.

That was over 1m2f on good ground and both the step up in trip and the faster deck are boons to his chances at Ascot.

He beat the reposing Snow Sky in last season’s 1m4f, good-to-firm ground Great Voltigeur on what, so far, has been his sole attempt at a mile and a half.

Due Diligence – Diamond Jubilee Stakes (16:20)

Talking horse Brazen Beau could be worth taking on given he has received substantial weight allowances in his two all age Group 1 races to date.

Due Diligence came second in this race last year in what was her sole defeat from four tilts at 6f and remains very unexposed.

Reunited with man of the moment Ryan Moore and good-to-firm going for the first time since, he’s expected to go close.

Wicklow Brave – Queen Alexandra Stakes (17:35)

Not content with his hegemony over the big jumps racing events on both sides of the Irish Sea, Closutton maestro Willie Mullins has taken to pinching stayers’ races at the Royal Meeting with his dual purpose performers.

He has already teamed up with Moore to land the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday, taking their partnership strike rate at Ascot to four wins from seven runners across the last five years and the pair are trusted to work the Oracle again in a race they have won together twice in the last three years.
