Juventus striker ‘happy’ to be part of Liverpool recruitment drive

Liverpool have been extremely busy already in the summer transfer window, but rumours continue to circulate that another striker is on Brendan Rodgers’ wishlist.

Despite Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings arriving to bolster the Anfield attack for next season, neither are recognised as traditional number nines.

This is where Spain international Fernando Llorente may just fit the bill for Rodgers.

The Juventus striker is believed to be angling for a move away from Turin where he became somewhat of a peripheral figure last season.

One publication in his native country suggests Llorente is ‘happy to move to Liverpool’ having decided he wishes to leave Serie A behind this summer.

The former Atletico Bilbao man’s move to Anfield is made more plausible by reports coming out of Italy that another Reds target is close to a move to AC Milan.

Sevilla hotshot Carlos Bacca could be on the cusp of a big money move to the San Siro, though nothing has been set in stone as yet.

Despite winning two titles with Juventus, Llorente’s return of 27 goals in 90 all-competition games is not a tally that will have Kopites salivating over the 30-year-old.

However, with Daniel Sturridge injured, Rickie Lambert unwanted and Italian misfits Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini also likely to be auctioned off, a potential slot will open up for a traditional centre-forward to lead the line.

Liverpool are also hoping to complete the transfer of Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne in the coming week as the two clubs edge nearer to an agreement on the price.
