CORK to beat Waterford – Munster SHC semi-final (Sunday 16:00, Live on Premier Sports)
Get set for another mouth-watering contest between these two rivals with Cork our tip to avenge last month’s league final disappointment against Waterford.
The latter were surprisingly easy winners on that occasion. However, losing star forward Pauric Mahony for the rest of the season owing to injury is a game changer.
The Rebels can be inconsistent but with the bonus of not having to face Mahony they’re given the nod to prevail at Semple Stadium.
DERRY to beat Down- Ulster SFC quarter-final (Sunday 14:00, Live on RTE2)
Derry’s poor league campaign culminated in relegation to Division 2 but they should be a much stronger side now as players return from injury and club commitments.
Home advantage should also swing this tight contest in Derry’s favour when the two teams meet at Celtic Park.
But Brian McIver’s side will have to be on their game to dispose of a Down outfit who recently leapfrogged their rivals to reach the top division.
OFFALY to beat Laois – Leinster SHC quarter-final (Sunday 15:30)
Laois’ preparations for this encounter have been turbulent to say the least with manager ‘Cheddar’ Plunkett sensationally leaving the role last week before being reinstated.
Meanwhile, Offaly have no such worries and their measured progression under Brian Whelahan is likely to continue here.
Watch out for star forward Shane Dooley. He’s back in form and can punish the Laois defence at O’Moore Park.
WEXFORD to beat Westmeath – Leinster SHC quarter-final (Sunday 15:30)
There’s no denying that Westmeath have done well to reach this stage but they’re likely to find this step up in class too tough to manage.
Wexford are on the rise again following a run to the All-Ireland quarters in 2014 and should have enough to see off their depleted rivals at Mullingar.
