Fixture run in makes Man Utd’s title price boost the one to back

Published:

After returning Champions League football to Manchester United in his first season in charge at Old Trafford, Louis van Gaal’s ambitions switch to reclaiming the Premier League title as he sets out on his sophomore year at the club.

Now that the fixture list for the upcoming season has been released, the Dutchman’s optimism for such a feat must have been given quite the shot in the arm.

The Red Devils will close the season on an extremely winnable run of games, making the price boost Ladbrokes have handed out on United claiming the title, in celebration of the new fixtures’ release, the most appealing.

What was a set of 5/1 odds about Van Gaal winning the league is now a 6/1 chance and with the last five outings of the season pitting his club against Aston Villa, West Ham, Leicester City, Norwich and Bournemouth that price certainly appeals.

Such a soft finish means there is bound to be a tricky patch in United’s list somewhere and an October that sees them face Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City in consecutive games acts as something of a leveller.

Elsewhere, Everton have been dealt a tough hand, with the Toffees following up a trip to Watford with successive tussles against Southampton, Man City, Tottenham and Chelsea.

For the promoted teams, live in the top-flight could get off to a heady start, with all three given winnable fixtures.

Bournemouth host Aston Villa, Watford travel to Roberto Martinez’ renowned slow starters and Norwich are at home to Crystal Palace, with Ladbrokes making it a 33/1 shot that the trio all win on the opening day.
