How Twitter reacted to Jamie Vardy’s England call-up
Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and QPR striker Charlie Austin were the headline news following the latest England squad announcement.
28-year-old Vardy has scored four goals and made eight assists (more on that below) as part of the Foxes’ successful survival bid while Hoops talisman Austin has netted 17 times in his first season at the top level.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the former’s call-up to play for his country.
8 – Jamie Vardy has as many assists from open play as Eden Hazard in the Premier League this season. International?

Opta weren’t prepared to be sniffy about Vardy’s England bow.
And neither was Arsenal legend turned pundit, Ian Wright.

But naturally there were a few of you happy to stick the boot in.
Roy: I saw Jamie Vardy at Fleetwood and players like him who like running in behind defenders are good for coaches. He’s had a good season

Ultimately though, it’s only Roy’s views that matter.

And finally, Leicester were rightly pretty chuffed too.
