Trust Tottenham to make it six in a row for travelsick Man City

After Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa  in their last Premier League home match killed their top-four challenge for this season, some would argue only a fool would put up Mauricio Pochettino’s men to see off Premier League champions Manchester City at White Hart Lane at 5/2.

Lest we forget, the Citizens took their next opponents apart in north London last term, with their second 5-1 win at the home of the Lilywhites in three visits, and have bagged a whopping 15 goals in a trio of Premier League matches against Spurs under Manuel Pellegrini.

Furthermore, Pochettino and co seemingly have nothing to play for now the Champions League spots are out of reach, with many football watchers suggesting it’s a race to the bottom (i.e. seventh place) for Europa League-loathing Spurs and Liverpool.

However (you knew it was coming) with Arsenal more likely than not to win the FA Cup final against Villa and dump that extra European berth on the top-flight placings, it’s silly to think professional footballers will down tools between now and the end of the season.

The key stat to keep in mind ahead of this fixture is that outgoing champions City have lost their five previous away games, which includes losses at Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United, but also Crystal Palace and Burnley.

Pellegrini’s men have something to play for, with neighbours United just two points behind the top flight’s current second-placed side in fourth, but City haven’t had an away win since early February, when they were still in with an outside shot of retaining the title.

Still not convinced? Well, how about captain Vincent Kompany and vice-captain Yaya Toure’s absences through injury? While it’s true the pair have been useless recently, without both City seem completely devoid of leaders.

Get on hosts Spurs at 5/2, you know it makes sense.
