Qatar WILL still host World Cup 2022, despite FIFA turmoil
Qatar will still be the host country of FIFA World Cup 2022, despite the flurry of arrests from within world football’s governing body.
That’s the categorical statement from the organisation following a news conference this morning.
Reacting to the arrests, FIFA Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Walter De Gregorio, confirmed the commitment to honour the original voting results.

Earlier this morning Ladbrokes re-opened its World Cup 2022 host market and priced the USA at just 3/1 to stage the event.
Qatar remain the 1/6 favourites but the USA and Australia (8/1) are the two most likely nations to host the tournament if the FIFA meltdown worsens.
England are the 25/1 sixth favourites to host the event.
David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “News of the FIFA arrests has brought the issue of the 2022 World Cup back into the spotlight.”
Six FIFA officials have been arrested over corruption charges and are facing extradition to the US.
Swiss prosecutors have also launched a separate criminal case into the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bids.
