Take On The Professor: Bearded genius turns attention to Magic Weekend

Published:

Just when you thought you were out, he pulls you back in. OK so the Professor may not be a mafia don but he is the Godfather when it comes to stats.

The end of the football season does not mean the bearded genius retires to his lab to analyse all the stats from the campaign just gone – although he will be doing that in his spare time – and just to show he’s not a one trick pony he’s turning his hand to rugby league this week.

This weekend Take on the Professor targets the six Super League games taking place across Magic Weekend and hoping to dent our hero’s ego – and make off with a £25 free bet – is Warrington fan @MattyKirkham_.

As usual, the format is simple. One point will be awarded for a correct result with three points for guessing the correct score.

Let’s see what our profound pair are putting up this weekend…

Want to see how the Prof comes up with his picks? Here’s a brief insight into his methods.
  • – In the last five meetings between Salford and Widnes the winning side has always scored between 30 and 39 points and with the Red Devils losing five on the bounce going in this game the Vikings have to be the pick.

– Hull KR have won four of the last five derby clashes with Hull FC despite scoring under 30 points in three of those clashes. A narrow victory looks on the cards too, with FC scoring 20+ in three of those four defeats.

– The Warriors have won four of their last five Super League games and two of the last three meetings with Leeds. Neither side has scored more than 28 points in those games but the loser has reached double digits in four of the last five clashes.
