Price boost: Boro and Norwich enhanced to win with both sides to score

Published:

The Championship play-off final is one of the most exciting fixtures on the English football calendar, and this year’s edition is set to be a cracker.

Norwich and Middlesbrough finished third and fourth respectively in the second-tier, and there’s almost nothing between the two sides in the betting.

The Canaries are slight favourites at 6/4 to win the match in normal time, with Boro 19/10.

Clearly it will be an agonising choice trying to pick a winner, but Ladbrokes have ensured there’s an easier wager to opt for by boosting both teams’ odds to win in a match where each of them net.

Both teams to score in a Norwich win is priced up at 5/1 from 4/1, while Middlesbrough triumphing with goals at each end is now 6/1 from 9/2. Both bets are for the 90 mins only.

Although the past couple of play-off finals have finished 1-0, the match averages 2.82 strikes overall.

Three of the past five finals have seen both sides scoring and one managing to claim the win in normal time.

In 2012 West Ham edged out Blackpool 2-1. The year before saw Swansea win a classic match 4-2 against Reading and in 2010 the Tangerines beat Cardiff 3-2.

Both sides involved this year have been amongst the goals of late. Norwich have only drawn a blank once in their past 13 matches, while only Brighton have kept Boro at bay in their last seven.

There will not shortage of quality attacking players on display at Wembley. Led by Cameron Jerome with 19 goals, Norwich have four players who have scored 10 or more in the Championship.

No side can boast more men with 10 strikes plus than the Canaries, while Middlesbrough have Championship Player of the Year Patrick Bamford leading the line.

It all adds up to a free-flowing attacking encounter, where the winner will have to outgun the other rather than batten down the hatches.

Of the pair, Middlesbrough look the smarter side to get behind, as they completed an impressive double over Norwich in the regular season with a 1-0 win at Carrow Road recently.
