Palace good value to interrupt Liverpool celebrations once again
Tickets to see Steven Gerrard’s last Liverpool game at Anfield are reportedly being sold for a king’s ransom on Merseyside and visiting Crystal Palace will be chief among those looking to cash in on the hysteria.
Fittingly, for an outgoing legend of Gerrard’s stature, all eyes will be on the Liverpool skipper as he graces the Anfield turf for one last time in the red of his beloved club.
It promises to be some occasion, though Palace are well versed in the role of script spoilers from last season and looking to end a bad run of results themselves, the Eagles can catch Liverpool daydreaming once more.
The Londoners famously ended Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League title by staging a quickfire comeback to draw 3-3 at Selhurst Park in the penultimate fixture of 2013/14.
They then eased past Brendan Rodgers’ outfit 3-1 at home in the reverse this season.
With Liverpool bound to be caught up in the emotions of the day and Alan Pardew’s side picking up the vast majority of their points on the road this season, the 29/20 in the double-chance market looks ripe.
Meanwhile, over the last six times the sides have met in the top flight Palace have averaged 1.83 goals per game, netting three in each of the last two.
Ladbrokes customers should therefore delight in the 11/4 about 2-3 away goals and certainly take the 13/20 suggesting Palace get over 0.5 of them at least.
Both teams scoring also ranks highly at 17/20, with Liverpool last failing to find the net at home in the Premier League back in December.
Romantics can take Gerrard at 7/1 to break the deadlock or it is 15/8 that the skipper kisses goodbye with a goal.
