Man Utd rated the best fit for Chelsea reserve this summer

Published:

Unsurprisingly for a four-time Premier League champion that has spent the majority of this season rooted to the bench, Petr Cech has a number of clubs willing to offer him their number one jerseys this summer.

The Chelsea man leaving Stamford Bridge looks to be a formality after manager Jose Mourinho stated that the decision on the Czech Republic international’s future was out of his hands.

Indeed Cech’s agent has even named the three clubs his client would most like to represent, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain the chosen trio.

Luckily for those clubs, all three have an opening for a high-quality shot-stopper next season, but which of them would be best suited to the 33-year-old headgear-wearer’s services?

Arsenal

For too long Arsene Wenger has cruised through Premier League seasons without a world-class goalkeeper minding his net. Many think that is one of the main reasons the top-flight title has eluded him for so long.

Cech would walk into the Emirates and straight past David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny into the Gunners first-team, but would he satisfy his trophy-winning urges in north London? Most players leave Arsenal in order to find silverware, not join them.

Paris Saint-Germain

Certainly moving to the French capital would keep Cech’s already-glittering mantelpiece well stocked. PSG are perennial title challengers in Ligue 1 and are an emerging force in the Champions League.

However, it must be questioned whether Cech would relish the sub-standard competition on offer in the French league, having battled for so long in the nip-and-tuck environment of the Premier League.

Manchester United

One man holds the key to Cech’s move to Old Trafford. If David De Gea decides to stay put this summer, then the Blues reserve would have nothing to gain from swapping a London bench for a Manchester one.

If the Red Devils, who are 21/20 to beat Hull on Sunday, do lose their Spanish stopper though, then they would be the best fit for Cech as a challenger in all competitions.
