Liverpool striker may head to America on permanent basis

This season will end up being filed in the draw marked ‘forgettable’ for Liverpool and in particular one of their best players, whose personal contribution has been seriously hampered by successive injuries in 2014/15.

In fact, Daniel Sturridge has spent so much time off the field this season that servers in the Anfield canteen may have forgotten what he looks like.

Sturridge’s first setback with a thigh problem saw him miss exactly five months of action, before his most recent hip injury has meant the England forward hasn’t been seen in a red shirt since the beginning of April and will not reappear again this season.

According to manager Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool’s 25-goal man of last season has some “underlying issues” causing these unusual injuries.

Because of the club’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group, who also own the Boston Red Sox, Sturridge has now been sent out for his second spell across the pond as the medics in the US attempt to get to the bottom of these issues.

Sturridge spent nearly a month in Boston in December and if he spends much longer stateside, he may just end up changing his career path altogether.

Perhaps, using his keen eye for goal the former Chelsea man can make a mean pitcher…at least that way there will be no running involved.
