Come back Kev! Ladbrokes News readers want Pietersen back

Published:

Kevin Pietersen would be welcomed back into the England team with open arms if Ladbrokes News readers had their way, it has been revealed.

The 34-year-old was the runaway winner of the website’s latest poll, which asked: “who would you most like to see back in an England shirt?”

Pietersen scored a hefty 69 per cent of the vote, with his recent career-best knock of 326 potentially playing a part in his success in the poll.

John Terry has enjoyed a season to remember for Chelsea that has had some calling for an England recall but it would appear the wider public are somewhat on the fence when it comes to the 34-year-old.

Only 27 per cent backed the Blues captain to return to the Three Lions fold, with his list of previous crimes evidently still fresh in the minds of many.

Still, Terry can console himself with the fact that the idea of him earning an England recall is somehow more palatable than Steffon Armitage getting the nod in rugby union.

The 29-year-old scored a paltry four per cent of the vote, despite impressing for French club side Toulon this season.

Perhaps he should try his hand at rugby league?
