Kamara: Newcastle approaching D-Day in their fight for survival
Newcastle United head into this weekend’s crunch clash against Leicester City just five points above the Premier League drop zone.
And according to Ladbrokes ambassador Chris Kamara it’s a fixture that could define the rest of the Magpies’ season.
“This is D-Day for Newcastle. They must stop the slide. A point wouldn’t be a bad result but on current form you’d have to say that Leicester are favourites” he told Ladbrokes News.
“It’s a game they cannot afford to lose. If they did you’d have to fear for their Premier League status, especially looking at the rest of their fixtures.”
The north east outfit have lost seven games in a row for the first time since 1977 and will also have an FA Cup exit at the hands of Nigel Pearson’s Foxes playing on their minds.
Leicester ran out 1-0 winners in the pair’s third round encounter but that skinny margin of victory fails to highlight the gulf between the two sides back in January.
“The last time Newcastle faced Leicester it was early on in John Carver’s tenure and they got battered in the cup” Kammy added.
“They’d still have time to escape the trap door should they be on the wrong end of a similar result but in the context of this game you’d fear for them more than Leicester should they lose.”
