Chelsea v Palace: Capital kings to rule entire country after win

Published:

The scene is set. Chelsea only need a win at home to wrap up the Premier League title and Jose Mourinho couldn’t have asked for much less threatening party poopers than visiting Crystal Palace.

Alan Pardew’s side are not soft touches. Their very impressive position of 12th in the Premier League indicates this.

Rather it’s Chelsea’s unrivalled form in London derbies this season, their record against the Eagles and the enormous difference in motivation for this one which points to the home win as the only realistic outcome.

The title-clinching victory can be backed at 1/3 with Ladbrokes, which is a pretty tasty price in the circumstances, with the ticker tape on standby.

Chelsea’s reputation at Stamford Bridge precedes them with Mourinho at the helm, and this season is no exception as once again the Blues are undefeated in west London, giving rise to Palace’s odds of 9/1- while they’ve only dropped points on three occasions.

Palace may have won their previous two on the road, but Pardew’s troops have also lost their last two games in a row at Selhurst Park before heading north over the river.

The odds are further stacked against them as they’ve only beaten Chelsea once in their 14 attempts, losing nine of those, including the return fixture earlier in the campaign.

Unsurprisingly Chelsea’s form against London rivals this season is unparalleled as only a blip away at Tottenham and a 0-0 at Arsenal most recently have seen them drop points.

At home the Blues have beaten all their capital-dwelling foes, scoring at least twice in each match and only conceding once.

This shines a light on the 20/21 on the home win to nil and more pertinently the 1/1 shot about 2-3 goals for the champions elect.
