Arsenal’s player-of-the-year candidate gets huge price boost

Published:

There can be little doubt that Alexis Sanchez has been a huge win for Arsene Wenger in the transfer market. After splashing the cash on Mesut Ozil and watch him divide opinion as fiercely as Marmite in his Arsenal career to date, the Frenchman can rest assured nobody is questioning Sanchez’s abilities.

The Chilean has arguably had one of the three best seasons this year, alongside PFA Player of the Year Eden Hazard and Tottenham success-story Harry Kane, with 22 goals in all competitions for the Gunners and countless performances of endless running.

After spending much of his time at Barcelona prior to his north London switch sat on the fringes of the team, Sanchez has clearly revelled in playing a leading role for a club again, which has dovetailed with his impressive form in front of goal.

Crucially for the Gunners, the 26-year-old has played a dual role as either the side’s spark plug or finisher, getting 11 of his 14 Premier League goals as either a match opener or last strike of the game.

For Ladbrokes customers, it will be the Tocopilla native’s efficiency at getting the scoreboard rolling that will be key for the game against Hull, as the bookie has boosted his price to score the first goal of the game from 9/2 to a whopping 6/1.

Only two men have been better at score first goals in the top-flight than Sanchez this season, whose tally of seven in that department sits just behind the respective nine and eight managed by Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard.

The 77-cap international is in scoring form ahead of the trip to the KC Stadium too, having bagged three goals in his last four games.
