3 signings to help Swansea continue Premier League improvement

Garry Monk has smashed Swansea’s Premier League points record this season and, providing he keeps the team above ninth place, will guide them to their highest finish in the top-flight too.
For a manager thought to be lacking the required experience to keep the manager’s job long-term, having taken over from Michael Laudrup at the back end of last season, that’s not bad going.
Chief among his most impressive attributes is his ability in the transfer market, where plug-and-play Premier League acquisitions like Kyle Naughton and Jack Cork have delivered since the former defender brought them in.
In order to keep travelling on an upward curve, Monk must excel again this summer, especially with a bounty from the Wilfried Bony sale bulging his pocket.
Here are three ways he could continue improving the south Wales club, who are 8/1 to beat Arsenal next time out:
Luke Garbutt – Left Back – Everton
Since losing Ben Davies to Tottenham last season, Monk has gone through the entire campaign with Neil Taylor as his only option at left back. As the Welshman has also been subject of interest from other clubs, reinforcing the position should be the Englishman’s top priority.
Garbutt, an England U21 international of repute, will continue to find top-flight appearances difficult to come by behind Leighton Baines next term and could be open to a loan switch.
Luc Castaignos – Striker – FC Twente
Swansea have had success buying strikers from Holland in the past and have been linked with another Eredivisie hotshot in recent times.
Twente are struggling financially and are likely to be happy to sell, while Castaignos has shown himself to be a reliable source of goals in spells with both Feyenoord and the Tukkers.
Kolo Toure – Centre Back – Liverpool
Monk wouldn’t have to splash any cash to land the Ivorian, who is available for free this summer.
Although Toure hasn’t had his most sublime Premier League season with the Reds, he would add strength to the Swans’ defence in backing up Ashley Williams and Federico Fernandez, while his experience would aid youngsters Jordi Amat and Kyle Bartley.
