West Ham want underperforming boss to replace Big Sam

Having seen their side slump from a European-chasing top-six outfit to an anonymous mid-table non-entity this season, West Ham fans are adamant that Sam Allardyce needs replacing at Upton Park.

But, as rumours emerge of the candidate the east London club’s suits are lining up to replace the former Bolton boss, the supporters should be careful what they wish for.

West Ham currently sit 10th in the top flight having won just twice since Boxing Day to slide from the heady heights of fifth, but that can still be considered a better campaign than Everton, whose Roberto Martinez is reportedly interesting David’s Gold and Sullivan.

Despite a recent purple patch that has seen the Toffees win four of their last five games in an unbeaten spell, the Goodison Park club have generally languished in the lower half of the table and struggled to match their strong form of last season.

So seeing the Spaniard, who was relegated with Wigan before landing the gig to succeed David Moyes on Merseyside, linked to the West Ham hot seat is a bit of a head-scratcher considering current form.

After travelling to Manchester City, where the Irons are 10/1 to win, West Ham face a favourable run in that could still see them finish in seventh should they string a run of wins together.

Considering the turnaround Big Sam has engineered at the club, where a more attacking brand of football is played with a squad full of pace and power, ditching him for a boss struggling further down the league would be a bad move.

The Hammers are 7/4 to win at QPR after their Citizens assignment, while the Toffees are 23/10 shots at home to Manchester United next.
