Premier League Darts: Tungsten new order to keep Taylor down

With every passing week in the Premier League Darts, Dave Chisnall is expected to return to earth with a bump after outstaying his welcome in the sport’s stratosphere. After his striking double in last week’s schedule, it’s time to accept he belongs there.

The St Helens thrower was the first, along with James Wade, to tackle the double-header in the fixture list after the bottom two players were eliminated, and took to the task with ease.

The 34-year-old started by dismantling current World Champion Gary Anderson 7-3, before wiping the floor with James Wade 7-1 in the night’s final encounter.

With just one match on his plate this week, Chisnall should have no trouble finishing off Phil Taylor, who takes over two-match duties and is in dire form, to the tune of 11/10.

Taylor was dismal in falling to Raymond van Barneveld last time out. His three-dart average of 86.80 was the lowest in his entire Premier League career and he has now misfired in his last two performances in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Stephen Bunting is the other man due to take the stage twice in Aberdeen’s GE Oil & Gas Arena, but his inconsistencies make him an untouchable betting prospect, especially after viewing his head-to-head record with Taylor:

Instead backing Anderson, at 2/5, to overcome an out-of-sorts Wade and taking Michael van Gerwen to continue his unbeaten streak with a 1/5 win over Van Barneveld are preferred.

Wade has lost three in a row to obliterate the theory that he’s tough to beat and has complained of physical and mental fatigue, while Van Gerwen has been untouchable in all forms of the game since crashing out of the World Championship.

Combining all three selections in a treble returns odds of a little over 5/2.
