Poll: Who would make the best #StarWarsFootballer?

Published:

Star Wars fans will be buzzing with glee today after the first official trailer for the seventh installment of the Sci-Fi saga was released.

With the weekend vibes already swirling around the Ladbrokes News office conversation soon turned to which footballers past or present would make the best Jedi.

We’ve expanded that thinking and come up with six puntastic #StarWarsFootballers for you to vote on.

Let us know which of these ballers from a football league far far away you think is best placed to step off the Millennium Falcao and play mind tricks on their opponent.

Jar Jar Toure

Jar Jar Binks is clearly the most annoying of all Star Wars characters and Toure is equally irritating to his rivals.

When on top form he can be unplayable and dictate games with authority and even when he’s off the boil he can still pop up with a late winner.

Jon Obi Wan Kenobi

With just four goals from over 300 games for Chelsea, Obi clearly holds his attacking potency back for when it truly is required. Much more content to analyse his surroundings the Blues midfield maestro is now serving as a mentor to some of Stamford Bridge’s younger stars.

Eirik Chew Bakke

The 6ft2in midfielder was often seen sporting a floppy mop on his head and could be heard letting out loud battle cries on the field at Elland Road in the early 2000s.

Jedi Sheringham

This striker was able to play into his forties because his force was in his head rather than his feet. It is often said that Sheringham already had his next two moves in his head and this ability to channel his inner jedi and see briefly into the future helped him win a stack of trophies throughout his career.

Efan Ewoku

He may be taller than the average Ewok but the striker’s ability to hunt down and gather ball before striking for the likes of Bournemouth, Norwich and Nigeria show he has all the power of the residents of the Forest Moon of Endor.

Darth Crooks

With a Uefa Cup and two FA Cup winner’s medals in his trophy cabinet former Stoke and Spurs ace crooks clearly started out on the path to glory.

However, after joining the dark side of football punditry the BBC man is often derided for his questionable Team of the Week choices.
