It was a case of Andros Townsend to the rescue again for England as the Tottenham wide-man struck a late equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw against Italy.

But while he does seem to deliver for his country, his Spurs form this season has been questionable.
That got us thinking, which player is the ultimate case of country over club?

Andros Townsend – Tottenham and England
Having netted his third goal in his seventh appearance for England, Townsend was quick to stick it to his critics and Merson in particular.
Nevertheless, Spurs fans must be wondering when they can see that kind of magic at White Hart Lane. The winger has netted just twice in the Premier League in 14 games (nine starts) for the Lilywhites and must be wondering what he can do to hold down a regular starting place.
Radamel Falcao – Man Utd and Colombia
This one takes little introduction – the former Atletico Madrid man has been an almighty flop since moving to the Premier League, scoring just four goals in 22 appearances for Manchester United.
That didn’t stop the Colombian netting three times in his two starts for his country over the international break, talking his tally to seven in his last eight Los Cafeteros appearance. United fans can live in hope.
Graziano Pelle – Southampton and Italy
While the striker started with a bang when he moved to St Mary’s, it’s all gone a bit stale for Pelle recently.
With just two goals in his last 16 matches in Ronald Koeman’s side, the Saints will be looking for a revival somewhat. He showed that could be on the cards with the opening goal in Italy’s 1-1 draw with England on Tuesday.
Lukas Podolski – Inter Milan and Germany
He’s 11 games in but the former Arsenal man is still yet to break his duck for Inter Milan, after netting just three times for the Gunners before his move this season.
But coming off the bench for his nation, Podolski has looked sharp, and rewarded Joachim Loew’s perseverance with a late equaliser to save Germany’s blushes against Australia.
Edin Dzeko – Man City and Bosnia-Herzegovina
It may be fairly harsh to include a man who has started just 10 games for Manchester City in the Premier League this term, but we are anyway!
In fact, the lanky striker has netted more goals for Bosnia-Herzegovina this season than he has for the Citizens in the same period. He added another three to his international career against Andorra on Saturday and looked a real handful.
