Outsider-backers have no fear of Masters cut with Ladbrokes

Published:

Like the Grand National with horse racing, the US Masters attracts a host of golf punters that normally wouldn’t spend too much time over which man they think will win the Shell Houston Open during the normal PGA season.

This year is unlikely to be any different and for anyone looking to secure a heady windfall the risk of backing an outsider in the field has just become that little bit more secure.

For this year’s tournament, Ladbrokes have decided to offer money back if your selection fails to make the cut at Augusta National, meaning the temptation to side with some of the long-priced names in the betting even more irresistible.

Former Major winners like Padraig Harrington and Fred Couples, although not what they were, are both triple-figure chances to claim the Green Jackets this week at 100/1 and 125/1 respectively, while someone more contemporaneous like Kevin Na, who has been in strong form of late, also finds himself a 125/1 shot.

As long as the stake is no more than £25, backing each way, which will see a return should the player finish inside the top 5, is no longer a risk, as a poor round and early exit from the tournament at the halfway point will see that stake returned.

It could be that many use the offer to back Tiger Woods at 40/1. The former world number one has just announced that he will be returning to competitive action at the tournament but, after suffering from swing and injury troubles, could be a little ring rusty.

Using this offer gives punters a little bit of insurance should it go horribly wrong for the former Masters champion upon his return.

There are a host of strategic options to use the offer on, but be sure to read the terms and conditions, found here, fully and thoroughly in order to make the best use of it.

The full entry list and odds for the competition can be found here, and the offer is open from Monday April 6.
