Liverpool should offer rebel in part exchange for City midfielder

With silly season not far away, things are starting to get interesting in the rumour mill as those players with itchy feet begin making themselves conspicuous.
Never a shrinking violet, especially when his birthday gets overlooked, Manchester City’s Yaya Toure has already cleared security and is waiting in the departure lounge.
In a candid interview with a French football website, City’s influential midfielder left little to chance as the transfer window approaches.
“No amount of wages will make me stay at a club if I feel that I no longer belong there or if no challenge exists for me,” he said.
“For the future, I don’t know more than you do, because I will always go where I am offered new challenges. That is in my nature.”
Toure clearly feels he’s been made a scapegoat for City’s failure to defend their title and, at 31, perhaps the time is right to sever his ties, despite all the success.
His former manager Roberto Mancini for one is supposedly very keen for a reunion over at Inter.
However, should the marauding Ivorian who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, feel at home in England, at least there could be a perfect storm brewing involving City and Liverpool.
The Raheem Sterling saga puts the Reds contract rebel right at the apex of City’s summer spending plans, while Liverpool are bidding farewell to an experienced, stellar name in the form of Steven Gerrard.
Could a sensational part-exchange deal be pulled off? It’s not actually all that crazy a concept.
For all his raw talent, Sterling’s potential is not necessarily a guarantee of greatness, while at the same time Toure is angling for an exit, Liverpool’s Jordan Ibe – the closest thing to a direct Sterling replacement in the Premier League – is about to sign a new deal.
What Brendan Rodgers needs to stem the taunts of regression aimed his way is to sign high profile players and Toure, wage-demands depending, could actually thrive as the main man at Anfield.
Added to this, he has the chance for a second footballing reunion with this brother Kolo.
