Leicester vs Chelsea: Kramaric to show Blues what they’re missing

Published:

Jose Mourinho may have responded to the “Boring, boring Chelsea” chants with aplomb with his comments on Arsenal’s title drought, but a new sledger has entered the arena ahead of the Blues’ clash with Leicester.

Having been tearing up the Croatian league with HNK Rijeka, Andrej Kramaric attracted interested from a number of the Premier League teams.

It looked at one stage as if Stamford Bridge would be his next home, but instead he opted for a switch to the East Midlands.

“I rejected Chelsea and chose Leicester because I wanted to feel real football”, the 23-year-old is quoted as saying.

His arrival at the Foxes camp hasn’t been as explosive as had been hoped, with just two goals to his name, but now could be the time for the four-capped striker to come alive.

After racking up four straight Premier League wins, Nigel Pearson’s men have climbed out of the relegation zone, and are hitting form at the right time.

A price of 9/2 probably reflects the host’s chances accurately, with Chelsea coasting towards the title, and reports suggesting Pearson is looking to save his first string for more winnable encounters in the near future.

Whether that is true or not, he is likely to be without David Nugent and Jamie Vardy to lead the line at the King Power Stadium.

Step forward, Kramaric.

The Croatian is likely to want to show Chelsea that he is worthy of Premier League football, and not just a pawn to buy and loan out, the probable outcome had he chosen west London as his new home.

He can certainly deliver in the big games, having bagged a hat-trick in his final season at Rijeka against arch rivals Hajduk Split in the fiery Adriatic Derby, and could step up to spoil Chelsea’s title party.

At 10/1 to break the deadlock, or 7/2 to bag at anytime, there looks to be few options better to back, as the Foxes continue their charge towards top-flight safety.
