Kammy to organisers: “Put the Grand National on at half-time!”

The nation is gearing up for what’s set to be another epic Grand National but for football fans their chances of seeing the big race are limited.

Instead, thousands of spectators up and down the country will be too busy watching their respective teams do battle when the big race gets underway at 4.15pm.

And that’s a situation that top soccer pundit Chris Kamara believes needs addressing.

Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes News he said:”I’ve never been in a position to go to Aintree unfortunately!”

“In terms of my own routine it’s always been a bit of a nightmare for me trying to watch it.

“The race has traditionally been on during a game throughout my career and I’ve either been playing, managing or working on TV.

“You’ll see them parading or lining up beforehand and realise you’ve got to be back out there at 4 o’clock before the off.”

The solution? In Kammy’s words, it’s simple.

“I don’t know why they don’t do it at half-time. Everybody at all the football grounds is interested in the Grand National” he added.

“Fans are missing out on the occasion and clubs are missing a trick. From my own selfish point of view it’d be great to be able to watch it too!”

Kammy may not get a great view of the Aintree spectacle but that’s not going to stop the Sky Sports legend from having a bet.

“At the Races asked if I’d be interested in getting involved for a charity bet and they picked one for me in Al Co. I’ll have a bit on as £1000 will be going to Marie Curie.”

“But my big shout will be Rocky Creek. I don’t really have any superstitions. I just try to go for the horse that I think is going to win it.

“Obviously, Shutthefrontdoor with McCoy onboard is the horse on everyone’s lips and what a way that would be to bow out.”
